You are now on your way.
Open Water – Day One
The first day of training is working on fundamentals and we will help you make the transition into the open water as easy and enjoyable as possible. Our open water dives are at a local lake just 15 minutes away. There’s an easy entry edge that will allow you to enter the water and still keep your feet on the ground.

Did we mention the pool is heated. No other Scuba instruction in Michigan has a facility for teaching like ours!
The first dive will be a shallow water dive followed by a descent along a rope line to a platform just 20 feet below the surface. At any time you can safely return to the surface and verify your gear, make any adjustments for comfort and boost your confidence. We will help you adjust your weight belt so you are properly balanced in the water at any depth. This will enable you to feel weightless and move effortlessly underwater.
The following dives return to the platform and are designed to help you get more and more comfortable underwater. We will teach you to understand and be able to handle most situations which may arise. And be able to assist your dive buddy if needed. You will review the pool skills you have learned and put them to use in the open water. If you find that you do not feel comfortable with a particular exercise, your instructor will work with you on that exercise. True one-on-one interaction with all of our divemasters differentiates Colombo Scuba from other, larger training groups.
Your dives will take you down to a platform at a 20 foot depth, so that you can focus on your skills without having to think at the same time about fine tuning your buoyancy . Our experienced dive masters will assist the instructor to keep your dive safe and become make it an enjoyable learning experience.
At the end of the day, your dive masters and instructor, who have been working with you all day, will have suggestions and advice for adjustments or changes before your next class. You may want to stick around and watch as advanced students suit up and swim away for a night dive. Believe it or not…you’ll likely be joining them one day soon!
Open Water – Day Two
This is the final day of training where everything comes together. On the second day of dive training we will review, practise and refine the skills you’ve already learned. You will learn to make your own dive plan and to execute your newly acquired underwater navigation skills. The last dive of the day is the most exciting! You’ll now be ready for you and your buddy to plan your dive and dive it together, on your own. You will now know that you have become a confident, skilled and safe diver.
Congratulations – at the end of the day you will become a Certified Scuba Diver! Your PADI card is your license to travel the world and see what lies under the waves — enter the deep blue and see what you’ve been missing. Welcome to this amazing new world of adventure – for the rest of your life!
